He watched her strain her head forward, peering into the dimly lit backyard; the moonlight painted one side of her face a strange ivory statue color. The short sleeves of her pajama shirt contrasted with the bare skin of her arm and the fluffy bottoms that ended at the knees. It looked almost ghostly as she appeared to float across the grass toward him.
"How do you move like that?" he whispered as she came closer. "You seem to just glide instead of walk."
She smiled and let a little squeak of sound, not a laugh, not a chuckle, come forth. "Girl secrets, I'll never tell," she said as she knelt down beside him and arranged the sleeping bag and pillow next to him.
"I couldn't sleep," she said quietly as she crawled onto the sleeping bag and lowered her head to the pillow. "It's beautiful out tonight; you been here long?"

More silence until she sat up and pulled the liner of the sleeping bag over her legs and turned to him on one elbow. "Mike? You thinking about anything special..."
Young brother and sister come clean about their feelings for each other out in the backyard on a starry, starry night, in sleeping bags. It's the first time for both, with the shy and awkward guilt of breaking promises to parents and themselves... a discovery for both... a love story. Whoever said, 'It's like kissing your sister,' didn't know what they were talking about.
